Setting Up Microsoft Windows 95/98

This page will give you the essentials for setting up Microsoft Windows 95/98 to Dial-Up and connect to Access Internet with your PPP account.

New Configuration

  1. Double click on My Computer
    From My Computer double click Dial-Up Networking.
    Right-click on your connection icon for Access Internet and select Properties


  2. Click on the Server Types tab near the top.


  3. Make sure that th following items have been done:
    • From the Advanced options
      1. Uncheck Log on to network
      2. Check Enable software ccompression
      3. Uncheck Require encrypted password
    • From the Allowed network protocols
      1. Uncheck NetBEUI
      2. Uncheck IPX/SPX Compatible
      3. Check TCP/IP
    • Click TCP/IP Settings...

  4. Select Server assigned IP address
    Select Server assigned name server addresses
    Uncheck Use IP header compression
    Check Use default gateway on remote network
    Click OK to close this window.

  5. Click OK again to close the Properties for your dial-up connection.
    Close Dial-up Networking and My Computer
