Q. What is NCSA Telnet ?

A. NCSA Telnet is a terminal emulator program for the Macintosh. For a more detailed description of what TELNET is and for more general information about TELNET, see the "telnet" help file.


Q. Connecting to Access ?

A. To connect to Access:
  1. Open NCSA Telnet. A window does not open even though you are in the program.
  2. Choose Open from the File menu.
  3. In the "Host/Session Name" field type shell.accesscom.com.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. A window opens, and a login prompt appears. Type your username and press return.
  6. A password prompt appears. Type your server password and press return.

Note: This is the password we gave you in all lower case letters. Please type it in lower case.


Q. Connecting to another site ?

A. If you are connecting to a site where you have an account:
  1. Open NCSA Telnet. A window does not open even though you are in the program.
  2. Choose Open from the File menu.
  3. In the "Host/Session Name" field type the site name.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. A window opens, and a login prompt appears. Type your username for that site, and press return.
  6. A password prompt appears. Type your password and press return.
